I recently taught a week-long residential course for Gifted and Talented Students on the topic of China. The course covered a variety of aspects of Chinese, culture, economics, history, and geography. One of the first sessions provided a broad overview of Chinese history, and I managed to pack around 6000 years of history into 45 minutes. The presentation that accompanied this session can be seen below.
If you’re interested in Chinese history I would recommend a couple of books for a general overview:
China: A History by John Keay
Cambridge Illustrated History of China by Patricia Buckley Ebrey
The Dragon and the Foreign Devils: China and the World 1100BC to Present by Harry Geiber
